Oklahoma State Advances to Big 12 Semis Following 7-0 Win Over Utah
The second seeded Oklahoma State Cowgirl softball team rolled into the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament following a 7-0 win over Utah.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 38-14 overall on the season and will face the winner of Arizona-Arizona State on Friday night.
Pitcher Ruby Meylan was dominant in the circle as she threw her eighth shutout and 20th complete game of the season. She recorded her one-hit game of the season as the Utes’ lone hit came in the top of the seventh inning.
Karli Godwin and Rosie Davis each went 2-for-4 from the plate tonight, with Godwin recorded one home run and two RBIs and Davis one RBI.
Madison Hoffman also had a great night from the plate as she went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
The bulk of the Pokes’ runs came in the bottom half of the fifth inning, starting with a single from Davis up the middle to score freshman Jayelle Austin from second. Amanda Hasler’s lone hit of the game was a good one as she ripped a triple down the left field line to score Libby Jaques, Davis and Kaya Booker. Hoffman finished the inning with a single up the middle to score Hasler from second to make it 5-0.
Godwin put a bow on the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as she blasted a two-run homer to make it 7-0.
