Oklahoma State Board of Regents Approve Athletic Facility Upgrades
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State University A&M board of regents met on Friday morning and approved nearly $7 million worth of athletic facility upgrades to Oklahoma State athletics, including projects for football, softball and wrestling.
All the projects are scheduled to be completed throughout 2022.
Pokes Report spoke with top-level members of the athletic department and were told they didn’t want to put out an official release and overshadow the conference expansion. There will be an official announcement sometime next week.
The largest of the updates will take place in the West End Zone of Boone Pickens State Stadium. Cowboy football will be getting a new recruiting center on the coaches’ level, which will include a snack bar, gaming tables and a satellite locker room where recruits can sample OSU’s varies uniform combinations.
The locker room will also get a huge face lift, including new lockers and an updated lounge area.
As far as Cowgirl softball, the stadium will be getting a new synthetic turf outfield, changing over from the nature grass that’s there right now. A new outfield fence will also be installed, as well as new protective netting behind home plate.
For Cowboy wrestling, the locker room will undergo a 4,200 square foot renovation which includes new lockers and other amenities. A new team space will be created which will include a study area, kitchen game room and a lounge.
