Cowboy Baseball’s Campbell Named To Golden Spikes Watch List

CARY, N.C. – Oklahoma State pitcher Justin Campbell is one of 55 players on USA Baseball’s 2022 Golden Spikes Award Watch List.

The Golden Spikes Award has been awarded annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country since 1978. OSU’s Robin Ventura won the award in 1988.

Campbell collected multiple All-America honors last season and is a consensus preseason first-team All-American in 2022. He spent the summer of ’21 playing with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

A 6-foot-7, 219-pound right-hander, Campbell made 14 appearances on the mound for the Cowboys last season, 13 as a starter, and went 7-2 with a 2.57 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 84 innings of work. He recorded double digits in strikeouts five times and tossed the ninth no-hitter in OSU history, achieving that feat against Kansas.
