STILLWATER – Oklahoma State used an impressive second half to pull away from Prairie View A&M for a 78-53 win.

With the win, the Cowboys move to 5-2 on the season.

The Cowboys had four players in double figures as Avery Anderson III led the way with 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He also had four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Both Bryce Thompson and Moussa Cisse finished with 13 points, with Cisse recording his fourth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds. Both he and Thompson shot well from the floor with Cisse going 6-of-9 and Thompson 6-of-12.

True freshman Quion Williams is starting to find his groove as he scored a career-high 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the floor, 1-of-1 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 free throw line.

It was a tale of two halves as the Cowboys continue to work towards establishing roster roles. The first half was close from the tip for the Pokes as Prairie View A&M matched nearly shot-for-shot with the Pokes, including taking the lead several times, including 26-25 with 1:17 remaining in the half.

That, however, would be the last lead of the day for the Panthers as Anderson III hit two free throws to give the Pokes the lead back going into the half. The Cowboys then held the Panthers scoreless for the first five and a half minutes of the second half, while extending their lead up to 13, 39-26 on a hot start out of the gates. Thompson hit a layup, Anderson III his lone three of the game, Williams a layup, two free throws from Anderson III and one from Cisse, followed by a layup from Anderson III.

The Cowboys play again on Thursday, December 1, as they travel up to Storrs, CT, for the Big 12/Big East Battle game against No. 20 UConn.

That UConn game should be pretty telling on where the team is at this point.

They were 5-0 and #20 at that last ranking poll, but have won 3 more games since then (Oregon, Alabama, Iowa State)..... they could be top 10 now easily (maybe #1)

for reference #1 N. Carolina lost this past week to Alabama in 4 OT, and to Iowa State.

and #3 Kansas lost to #22 Tenn (Houston is #2, but hasn't played anybody of merit)

Texas is #4 and has beaten Gonzaga...

the next ranking should be interesting

The perfect example as to why rankings shouldn't start until a few weeks into January lol.

Naw..... rankings are good, for basketball anyway, there are too many teams for us to keep track of without input from the media. I can't keep track of the defections and transfers, and several losses doesn't matter as much in basketball as it does in football.

Take Ohio State for example, I was watching one of their games and Likeli was starting for them and Mr. Hustle sharp shooter McNeil from WVU was first off the bench. and last year... N. Carolina had the 6-11 Garcia kid from Marquette, and the Larry Bird look alike goon, whatever his name was, and he grew a beard to cover up his porn star mustache and try to hide himself from the goon fans.

It's too much to follow for early season games.... IMO.

but, it clearly doesn't mean that they're going to get the rankings correct out of the chute

besides, I only posted that because I was curious about UConn's ranking after your incomplete sentence, stating that we were playing No. UCONN.

I get it, the updated rankings weren't out yet, so I posted what interesting information I could find about the possible new ranking

either way, it spells trouble for OSU, IMHO

UConn up to No. 8 in the updated AP Poll

We'll likely get boat raced. Nothing about our team suggests they are defined enough with roles established to win a road game against a Top Ten team. Add our inconsistency in scoring and overall shooting with defense that comes and goes with the wind and our prospects seem poor for success. But, that's why you play the game.
