Oklahoma State Offers In-State DL Jaleel Johnson; Down And Dirty Camp Big Success
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State hosted over 160 linemen into Sherman E. Smith practice facility today for the Down and Dirty lineman camp.
Out of the group, there were plenty of guys who have been on the radar for a while as well as some guys who already held offers. The camp was a big success with an offer being extended immediately after too long and powerful defensive end out of Putnam City North.
Jaleel Johnson, 6’4 233 pounds, is one of the guys who has been on the radar but made his way to Stillwater today and proved he was worthy of an offer. Johnson is in the 2022 class and currently holds 12 offers from Kansas State, Arkansas State, Baylor, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Memphis, Missouri, North Texas, SMU, Texas Tech, and Tulane.
He is what would be classified as a speed to power rusher which is shown by his 4.69 40-yard dash time and 4.39 shuttle time, which just shows his explosion and change of direction. He also showed the ability to go through a lineman, which he happened to do against one of the biggest guys in the camp.
Johnson met with Gundy after the camp and spoke about all sorts of topics when he learned he was being offered. You could tell from his facial expressions and how he talked about the day, this was very exciting for him. It would be smart to pencil in Johnson as a good chance to land at Oklahoma State. He said the offer automatically puts the Cowboys towards the top of his recruitment.
You can listen to the video at the top of this story to get the full breakdown of how his day went and what it was like to pick up his offer.
Johnson wasn’t the only guy that showed off at the camp though, there were some ballers.
One of the top performers of the day was 2023 Nolan Catholic Kaleb James, who has held an offer from Oklahoma State since January. I watched him several times in the past few months in camp settings and he is one of the pure defensive linemen in the 2023 class. He holds double digit offers but Oklahoma State is in a very good situation with him.
Two more defensive lineman that impressed me were Pleasant Grove’s Victor Shaw and 2023 Derby, Kansas speed rusher Samuel Same. Same measured in at 6’3 188 but he was very quick and long. He showed the speed off the line to blaze right past people and will surely be a name to watch. He holds one offer right now from Iowa State.
The offensive line group was also impressive to watch with two names standing out on the forefront.
There was one main guy who has been on Pokes Report’s radar for a few months and that is 2023 The Woodlands High School 6’8 330 offensive tackle Kaden Sieriacki. He was not only big physically but showed up big in the 1-on-1 drills. Celina interior lineman Michael Reemts is another guy I been watching for a while, and he made the trip to Stillwater and impressed.
Pokes Report will have in-depth and exclusive stories on all of these prospects in the coming days and you will not want to miss it. In these stories we will have camp film, video interviews and performance breakdowns from the players themselves.
