Recruiting the Rest of the Summer: Check the Calendar
STILLWATER – Just a heads up as Oklahoma State will host a few more official visits before the upcoming weekend ends and will move football recruiting from a quiet period into a dead period.
Quiet Period: The period of time when it is permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution’s campus. No in-person off campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may be made during the quiet period.
Dead Period: The period of time when it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off the member institution’s campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by perspective student-athletes to the institution’s campus.
We know that the Cowboys have big tackle prospect Austin Kawecki from Frisco (Lebanon Trail), Texas in for an official visit that started today (June 22). The 6-5, 280-pound Kawecki has already visited USC (June 4), Colorado (June 11), and Baylor (June 18). Texas Tech is also trying to edge in on Kawecki.
Visits can go on through this weekend ending June 27. Then the calendar goes dead from June 28 through July 24. There will still be lots of phone calls and social media communication and I expect a lot of commitments will take place during the dead period. It will open up again the last week of July.
Oklahoma State has a mini camp scheduled for Sunday, July 31 and they may take in official visits that last week of July. August brings on camp and it is back to a dead period until September and then for the first time in over a year and a half, coaches will be able to go back on the road and conduct evaluations and in-person visits off campus.
