Oklahoma State Lands Commitment From Texas Offensive Lineman Austin Kawecki

The hot stretch of Oklahoma State recruiting we keep talking about is heating up even more today as they have picked up new commitment in 2022 class, this time an offensive lineman.

Austin Kawecki, a 6-5, 270-pound tackle out of Frisco (TX) Lebanon Trail, has announced his commitment to Oklahoma State in a Twitter post.

Kawecki is the 11th commitment in this class overall, the sixth on the offensive side of the ball.

Kawecki is fresh off his official visit to Stillwater, so we can tell how the visit went given that he has made a decision on his recruitment just one day after he returned home. He picked the Cowboys over USC, Texas Tech, Colorado, Baylor, Miami, Penn State and 20 other offers.

The Cowboys were Kawecki’s final official visit after he visited USC, Colorado, Baylor and making a stop at Texas Tech.

Kawecki played left tackle for Lebanon Trail as a junior but possesses position flexibility to play either tackle or guard, which will be crucial as he gets to Oklahoma State.

Kawecki is a three-star prospect and provides a lot of upsides to his game. He is very strong in his hands and lower body and routinely drives defenders into the second level. He also is very good at finishing his blocks and does not stop until his man is on the ground. Kawecki can also move very well which he will have to try and maintain as he gets bigger, but he’s got some athleticism to his game and has even posted a 5.1 40-yard dash time which is impressive for someone his age and size.

As a team, Lebanon Trail rushed for 2,279 yards last season, an average of 227.0 yards a game, and 27 touchdowns. The quarterbacks also combined for 1,685 passing yards and 13 touchdowns.

Every commitment is important in recruiting but this one may prove to be more valuable than some think.

This is the first offensive line commit for Oklahoma State in this 2022 class, which comes at a perfect time as the Cowboys have several other lineman targets getting close to their commitment dates. Offensive line is one of those positions that recruits want to make sure is strong in a certain recruiting class if they join it and Kawecki is a fantastic start to that.

The hot stretch is sure to continue soon as about 8-12 Oklahoma State targets are set to announce their commitments within the next month or so.

Marshall, Is Lebanon Trail a newer high school in Frisch or has it been around for a while?

It is newer one, opened in 2016. They only started with freshman so their first graduating class was 2019, the same year I graduated from Frisco Wakeland.
