STILLWATER – Ask any Oklahoma State football player and they will tell you that the hardest day of training in the off season or during the summer is Friday. The workout starts early, in the winter usually before the sun is up, and in the summer right as the sun is coming up. It begins in the stands of Boone Pickens Stadium with stadium steps. Different groups do different amounts.

It's always good for the Old Men to get in there with the young'uns and show 'em we can hang

LOL - at 45 I was a youth soccer referee and got up and down the field as fast as the kids... at 65, I don't think I could win a race against a snail.

I don't seem to recall which "group" that RA said coach ran....

"Different groups do different amounts. For instance, the new arrivals are working their way up, but by the end of the summer the players will complete the circuit of the stadium all the way up and down each row."

Hey Robert.... this current summer work out program with Glass may be different than when you were suiting up... was there organized summer workouts back in your day, and what did guys do to try and stay in top shape?

There weren't any organized summer workouts and roughly 60-70 percent of the players went home, worked out on their own with a program they were given. The players on campus would work out together but on their own and they were there for summer school. There was no organized meals and the coaches would try to get you discounts and deals eating at restaurants around town. It was legal as it was tied into the summer school, like a summer meal plan. I know the guys shut down a buffet that once went on at Kentucky Fried Chicken. There was another buffet that eventually wouldn't allow football players.

Guys did not look like they do at the start of fall camp and in the old days it took several weeks to get everybody in shape.

Hahaha! Yes! When Son#1 was playing at Texarkana Texas High, he & his football buddies (O-linemen) would go to Cici's for lunch for the cheap all-you-can-eat buffet. After about 3 days, they shut the buffet down

Cali - hahaha, yes, I could make my presence known to the young'uns up to about 45 myself. Now I have to cheer on the younger Old Men, rep us by proxy lol
