Oklahoma State Basketball Makes the Cut for Trio of 2022 Prospects
STILLWATER – Since the NCAA’s in-person recruiting dead period lifted in June, Oklahoma State’s Mike Boynton has jetted all over this country in search of future talent for the Cowboy basketball program.
Well, we’re starting to see some fruits of coach Mike’s labor as three 2022 prospects have included the Pokes in their preliminary top schools lists.
Aidan Shaw, a 6-8, 190-pound small forward out of Link Year Prep in Branson, MO, has whittled his list down to six, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland and Missouri.
Shaw is listed as a four-star prospect in the 2022 class and is the No. 51 overall prospect and the No. 13 small forward in the country, as well as the No. 1 prospect out of Missouri.
He’s an incredibly athletic prospect who’s a constant threat around the rim on both offense and defense. While he’s not the best shooter on the floor, he has catch and shoot abilities, but is certainly a menace on the defensive end of the floor. He uses his length to disrupt shots and his presence down low forces a lot of last second altered shots.
Quadir Copeland is a 6-6, 175-pound combo guard out of Life Center Academy in Gettysburg, PA, and released a top-8 list featuring Oklahoma State, DePaul, La Salle, Maryland, Miami, Oregon, Penn State and Syracuse.
Copeland, who’s announced a commitment date of Aug. 10, is featured as a three-star prospect in the 2022 class, but he’s just outside the four-star rating. He’s listed as the No. 141 overall ranked prospect in the country, the No. 24 ranked combo guard and the No. 6 ranked prospect out of Pennsylvania.
He’s been to both Maryland and Syracuse, but officially to the latter where he’s being predicted to commit to.
This past season as a junior, Copeland averaged 17.1 points on 56% shooting from the floor, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He also shot 33% from three-point range, 61% from the free throw line and committed 2.1 turnovers a game.
Quion Williams is a 6-4, 185-pound small forward out of Mansfield (TX) Legacy who put out a top 9 list, including Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oral Roberts, St. Louis, Texas A&M, TCU and Texas Tech.
Williams is also listed as a three-star prospect in the 2022 class where he’s ranked as the No. 137 overall prospect in the country, the No. 33 small forward and the No. 13 overall prospect out of Texas.
His recruiting process really picked up some steam at the TABC Showcase in June. Both Mike Boynton and Terrence Rencher were on hand to see Williams at TABC. Williams is a stingy defender who makes it difficult for opposing teams, but he’s also solid on the offensive end, a trait both Boynton and Rencher noticed while down in the Lone Star State. In fact, they offered Williams following the event.
