Moussa Cisse Brings Athleticism and Length to the Paint for OSU
STILLWATER – While Mike Boynton and Co. didn’t bring in any true freshmen with the 2021 class, they did land some talented and experienced transfers who played at high levels this past season.
One of the more notable transfers signed with Oklahoma State just 10 days ago and was in Stillwater on his visit just a few days later. Moussa Cisse, the 6-11, 220-pound former five-star prospect who transferred in from Memphis brings a lot of length and athleticism to the position.
“[Cisse is] very athletic, I would say,” Avery Anderson told the media at the Eskimo Joe’s NBA Draft watch party this week. “We had played a pick up game with him. He’s very athletic, he runs the floor very well. It’s gonna be exciting.”
There are still some aspects of Cisse’s game that still need developing, such as free throw shooting, needing to get more physical and his shooting, but he led the AAC in blocked shots this past season with 46. Combine him with Kalib Boone, who led the Big 12 in blocked shots with 49, and that makes for a dangerous duo down low for the Pokes.
While in Chicago at the G League Elite Camp, Cisse measured just under 7-feet, with a 7-4 ½ wingspan and a 9-4 standing reach.
“It helps my game out a lot, man,” Boone told the media on Thursday. “I know Moussa led his conference last year in blocks, I led the conference in blocks. So, you got two guys that can block shots; that helps us in the paint. So, that helps our guards because when they want to try to come in the paint, they second guessing, so they go back out. That helps me out, so now I can expand my game, hopefully. But also, I got another big that can help me out. I got [Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe], I got [Bernard Kouma], I got Tyreek [Smith], I got Woody [Newton]. So, we added some new pieces. That helps a lot.”
Cisse went back home following his visit, but a source inside the program told Pokes Report he’ll be back in Stillwater around the second week of August in time for the start of the fall semester.
