Oklahoma State Lands Commitment From 2022 Guard Quion Williams

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball has landed its first commitment of the 2022 class. Quion Williams, a guard in the 2022 class, took to social media to announce his commitment to Mike Boynton and the Cowboys.

He chose the Pokes over Cincinnati, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oral Roberts, St. Louis, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech among others. Five of Williams’ top-nine schools, including Oklahoma State, have offered since June.

Williams is a 6-4, 185-pound guard out of Mansfield (TX) Legacy. He checks in as a top-150 prospect in the 2022 class and is the No. 13 overall prospect out of the Lone Star State.

Williams, who sat most of the 2020-21 season due to transfer rules, transferred into Mansfield (TX) Legacy from Jonesboro, AR and helped lead the Broncos into the third round of the UIL 5A state championship. He finished the season averaging 24 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks a game.

This is a solid addition for Boynton and Co. as Williams is a tough and gritty prospect whose recruiting process has really taken off following a great performance at the TABC Showcase in June. Williams posted 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

Throughout the summer, Williams averaged roughly 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists a game with Southern Assault.

Even though he checks in at 6-4, expect Williams’ athleticism and toughness to make him an early candidate to be one of the top rebounders on the team early in his time in Stillwater. He’s also shown over the past three months he’s an elite passer and can also handle the ball well. One aspect he’ll need to work on is his pacing during a game as he goes all-out all the time, which having a high-intensity motor certainly isn’t a downside.

A quick comparison Williams has earned over the summer, one Cowboy fans will recognize based on their similar style of play, is former OSU star Marcus Smart.

Coach Boynton is building a special program at OSU. Love seeing his recruiting efforts continue to be so successful.

And they said it was hard to recruit to Stillwater.
I know there are rules, but do we really want to follow them now?

you seem to be implying that Boynton is not a hard worker.... SMH

Eddie got some good recruits, Ford got some great recruits, the Illinois coach got some good recruits.... it's not impossible, but it is hard. Do not mistake Boynton's success for lack of hard work.
