Teven Jenkins Out Indefinitely Following Back Surgery

STILLWATER – It appears a familiar injury has sidelined a former Oklahoma State star in the NFL. The Chicago Bears’ second-round draft pick, Teven Jenkins, has undergone back surgery and will miss a majority of the 2021 season.

According to Schefter, the Bears are hopeful to get Jenkins back by November, but it’s possible his season is over before it even began.

Jenkins has been out since the first week of Training Camp.

This is a tough blow to Jenkins as a back injury is what sidelined him in the middle of the Bedlam game during the 2020 season and caused him to go ahead and miss the rest of the season to get healthy.

Jenkins was the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and signed a four-year contract worth $8,387,848, with $3,460,252 coming in bonuses. $5,261,518 of the contract is fully guaranteed.

He was one of the top tackle prospects coming out of college this past year, with Pro Football Focus giving him an overall grade of 92. He missed the last three games of the regular season, as well as the bowl game, following an injury suffered against OU. However, prior to the injury, in the last two seasons, he went 623 pass block opportunities without allowing a sack. He gave up two hits and two hurries in 2020 and no hits with seven hurries in 2019.
