STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball has added another quality non-conference game to its 2021-22 slate. It was announced Thursday afternoon the Cowboys will face the Houston Cougars at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX as part of the Hoop Hype XL College Basketball Showcase on Dec. 18.

This comes less than a week after it was announced the Pokes will be hosting Wichita State in Stillwater on Dec. 1

Oklahoma State’s full 2021-22 schedule

This will be the 22nd overall meeting between these two programs, with the Cowboys holding a 13-8 lead. That includes the most-recent win in the series, a 61-55 win on Dec. 15, 2019, at Houston.

Houston, led by head coach Kelvin Sampson, is coming off an impressive 2020-21 season as they made it to the Final Four where they fell to the eventual champions, Baylor, 78-59. The Cougars won the American Athletic Conference tournament this past spring.

Oklahoma State’s non-conference is getting better by the day. The Cowboys will play Oral Roberts on the road on Nov. 26, they host Wichita State on Dec. 1 and Xavier on Dec. 5. They play USC in Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center on Dec. 21, before closing conference play on the road against Florida for the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

Dickies Arena opening in the fall of 2019 and is a state-of-the-art arena that holds 14,000 seats. It’s set to be a host site for the first and second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
