Rangel Whips up Comeback That Falls Short With an Injury
Oklahoma State football’s quarterback commitment in the 2022 recruiting class Garret Rangel was back at it in game two of his senior season at Frisco Lone Star High School and working on rallying his team from a 28-7 halftime deficit to Texas Class 5A Division II top-ranked team in Aledo. The two teams battled on Thursday night in Toyota Stadium with Lone Star entering the contest ranked No. 6 in Class 5A Division I.
Aledo used a strong start, and some snafus in the kicking game by Lone Star to bolt to that halftime lead. Rangel finished the game 14-of-28 for 238-yards and two touchdowns, both in the second half to bring the Rangers back in the game.
In the third quarter alone, Rangel was four-for-four with 124-yards and both of those touchdowns. However, Rangel went out with a knee injury and didn’t finish the contest. Twice in the second half Lone Star pulled to within three points of high-powered Aledo. Ashton Jeanty scored on a 49-yard touchdown run with 4:22 left to make it a three-point game. Jeanty had three touchdown runs in the game.
Lone Star is now 1-1 on the season and they are waiting to hear the severity of Rangel’s injury.
