Pokes Report Podcast No. 12: Missouri State Breakdown and Look Ahead to Tulsa
STILLWATER – It’s time for another episode of the Pokes Report Podcast! Zachary Lancaster and Ryan Breeden breakdown the 23-16 win over Missouri State, while also taking a look ahead at the Tulsa game on Saturday.
Starting quarterback Spencer Sanders is back in the lineup after having missed the Missouri State due to COVID protocols. Sophomore quarterback Shane Illingworth got the start instead and had a decent day for it only being his fifth game of his career. He went 22-of-40 for 315 yards and one touchdown and interception.
We also talk about the praise Tulsa coach Philip Montgomery gave OSU DC Jim Knowles.
“I have a lot of respect for him. Every year that we’ve gone against him just how completely sound he is, and he does a really good job of being able to schematically get guys unlocked and off of blocks,” explained Montgomery of the run phase of Knowles’ defense. “Being able to, I’m not going to say hide a guy, but being able to put him in a situation where it is very difficult for us, from a run game standpoint, to get up (and block) on him.”
