STILLWATER – Just two days after the NCAA announced the denial of Oklahoma State’s appeal, the Cowboy faithful showed up in droves to support the Pokes as they beat UCO, 76-68.
While this game doesn’t officially count on the books, it was an important one for the Cowboys as it was the first time this group of played a game together. It also gave us our first look at the Pokes post-Cade Cunningham. While there’s certainly some kinks that still need ironed out as the Bronchos kept it close most of the game, there were some positives to take away from this game.
Moussa Cisse and Avery Anderson III led the way in points for the Cowboys as they each scored 14 points, Cisse on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and Anderson III 5-of-9 from the field.
Cisse also had a solid day on the defensive end of the court as he recorded five blocks.
The Bronchos took a 53-52 lead with 13:55 left in the game, but those would be the last points they’d score for the next six minutes as the Cowboys went on a 14-0 run to go up 66-53.
Anderson III knocked down a three-pointer with four minutes left in the game to give the Pokes a little breathing room, putting them up 73-59. However, the last field goal OSU hit at the four-minute mark of the second half.
The Cowboys officially starts the season this coming Tuesday, Nov. 9, as UT Arlington comes to Stillwater Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
