STILLWATER – It makes little sense to keep going back over the news of Tuesday as Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles signed a deal to trade his orange and black Nike gear with OSU on it for scarlet and gray Nike gear also with OSU on it. The price tag on Knowles defensive knowledge came out to $1.9-million a year with a $138,000 signing bonus. I have to admit that I have not heard of too many signing bonuses for coordinators in college football, but Knowles is a good one.

I hope Knowles doesn't further deplete our defensive staff. Seemingly, you'd think they have learned some scheme adjustments from him.

I doubt it, most of these guys have been around a lot longer here in Stillwater than Knowles. He stated to Robert that much of the game planning and scheming was a collaborative effort among the staff.

If the current coaching staff knows his hybrid system, then promoting from within, if we have a viable prospect, makes perfect sense. Also, it might help keep our incoming super seniors true to their intent to return.

A bear front have both guards and the center covered by Defensive linemen. This is obviously tough on inside runs, limits pulling offensive linemen and can create mismatches with certain offensive linemen who may have issues with speed rushers over them. It is effective in protecting linebackers who can flow easier side to side and can attack the LOS unimpeded on run blitzes.

I haven't heard of anyone else leaving Ohio State so sounds like he's going to inherit the staff just as he did when he came here.

I'm thinking moving Clements up makes the most sense. No need to bring in someone else to learn the D from those on hand. Then go get a good LB coach.
