Game Flow
- At the 10-minute mark of the first half, Oklahoma State found itself on top of a true Big 12 defensive battle with an 11-7 lead. The early lead was fueled by a 6-0 start to the game.
- The Cowboy defense applied the pressure on the Longhorns and forced them into 10 first half turnovers. This allowed the Cowboys to take a 30-28 lead into halftime despite a late Texas push.
- The defensive theme continued throughout the second half but a late 7-0 run propelled by Keylan Boone's career high fifth three-point field goal of the game helped OSU secure the wire-to-wire 64-51 victory.
Game Notes
- Oklahoma State was able to put the pressure on Texas forcing them into 10 turnovers in the first half. This marked the most turnovers that any team had forced the Longhorns to commit in any half of play this season.
- Keylan Boone gave the Cowboys a spark off the bench by hitting three, three-pointers in the first half, which tied his career high in made three-point field goals. He later surpassed his career high in points and made three-point field goals when he hit two threes late in the second half to total five made threes and 17 points on the game.
- The win vs. No. 14 Texas marked the first win of the year over a ranked opponent for the Cowboys. It was head coach Mike Boynton's 18th while guiding OSU.
- Texas came into the contest ranked No. 1 in scoring defense (52.3 ppg), No. 9 in scoring margin 19.8 points per game and No. 4 in turnover margin (7.0). Oklahoma State was able to exploit all these areas scoring 64 points, winning by 13, and winning the turnover battle by 5.
- OSU held Texas to 51 points on Saturday. The previous season low for points in a game this year for the Longhorns was 60 at Seton Hall on Dec. 9.
- The Cowboys never trailed in their upset win vs. Texas on Saturday.
