Tulsa Transfer DT Jaxon Player Chooses Baylor; Cowboys Must Turn To Others To Fill Spots
One of the top prospects coming out of the transfer portal this offseason has been Jaxon Player, the ultra-talented defensive lineman out of the University of Tulsa. The Cowboys offered and immediately landed in the top five with Baylor, OU, Arkansas, and TCU.
Well, now Player has officially made his commitment as he went to Twitter to announce he will be attending Baylor.
Player signed to Tulsa in 2018 and has since developed into a monster on Tulsa’s defense, earning 1st team All-AAC honors. He is originally from Waco Midway Highschool. In his four seasons at Tulsa, he accounted for 136 tackles and 8 sacks.
Player would have been a great addition for the Cowboys as they have lost Jayden Jernigan and Israel Antwine. The Cowboys will now have to look elsewhere as they look to fill three open spots available to transfers.
We have seen the staff offer offensive linemen, defensive linemen, and some running backs in the portal so far. It is not currently known how they will decide to spread the numbers but I would assume as of right now that landing multiple offensive linemen is a priority.
Some of the offensive linemen we have seen them offer are Western Kentucky’s Mason Brooks, UT Martin’s Michael Shanahan, and Georgetown’s Mac Hollensteiner. In terms of the defensive line, along with Player have been a couple of products from Missouri and Oregon, neither of whom chose the Cowboys. With running backs, they recently offered Stanford transfer, Nathaniel Peat.
Pokes Report will continue to monitor the transfer portal and any Oklahoma State news regarding the portal, both entries and exits.
