STILLWATER – Pokes Report noted a week ago after the match-up became final that two former Cowboys would square off in Super Bowl LVI. We’ve released a story on former Oklahoma State safety Tre’ Flowers and the undeniable spirit he has carried with him from high school at Converse Judson to Stillwater to Seattle and now to Cincinnati. Zac Robinson has a spirit too. The former Oklahoma State quarterback loves football. You could always tell it. Now after working through a career as a back-up and practice squad player in the NFL and working in football analytics and as a quarterback instructor, Robinson is on the verge of coaching in a Super Bowl and may soon be an NFL offensive coordinator.

Robinson as a back-up QB with the Bengals.

“It is a little bit surreal when you take a step back,” Robinson said Sunday in a phone interview with The Oklahoman. “You’re like, ‘Man, we really are going to the Super Bowl.’”

Robinson has been with the Rams for three seasons, coaching quarterbacks then wide receivers including emerging superstar and All-Pro Cooper Kupp, and now back to quarterback this season with Matt Stafford.

Robinson is also a new dad as he and his wife, Mia, have a newborn daughter Madelyn June Robinson. It is a great time to be on the Robinson team because as much as he told The Oklahoman’s Jenni Carlson that he loves LA. He may not be there a lot longer.

“I’m so happy to be here, and I can see myself here for a very long time,” he said. “If opportunities come up, you certainly listen, but this is such a great place.”

It could be an even greater place soon because after the game on Sunday it Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell is on his way to Minnesota to be the head coach of the Vikings. Robinson could be going with him or could be replacing O’Connell as the Rams offensive coordinator. The Rams head coach Sean McVay is a fan of Robinson as he brought him when he was named head coach. He calls Robinson a “rising star in this profession.”

In fact, there are NFL insiders that have labeled Robinson as a potential future head coach in the NFL. This Sunday all he wants to be is part of a Super Bowl champion.

This guy is a competitor. I'd love to see him come back to OSU some day - in the interim he is getting some great coaching experience.

Sounds like he's going to be hard to get! I always thought he was a possible head coach candidate for OSU, but if he gets Coordinator or Head Coaching job in NFL....he may be out of reach.
