Oklahoma State Looking for Revenge Against Kansas State on Alumni Weekend
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is set to host Kansas State for the second of two match ups this season. The Pokes will be looking to bounce back from the 71-68 loss to the Wildcats back on Feb. 2.
Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPNU with Ted Emrich and King McClure on the call.
It’s also a special weekend for the program as it’s an alumni weekend, with more than 50 former players and managers returning to Stillwater for the event. The players who have confirmed they’ll be back are listed below.
The Cowboys are fresh off a disappointing 76-62 road loss to Kansas this past Monday. They were led by Avery Anderson III and Bryce Thompson, who posted 15 points and 11 points respectively. It marked the first time back in Allen Fieldhouse for Thompson.
Even though they don’t have a chance to play in the postseason this year, the Cowboys have a chance to potentially play spoiler to the Wildcats. They were listed as one of the last four teams out of the NCAA tournament in Joe Lunardi’s most recent “Bracketology” report.
The Wildcats are coming off a 78-73 win over West Virginia, a very important win for them as the Mountaineers are another team fighting for a spot in the NCAA tournament. Which is what makes this game against the Pokes so important for KSU as another win gets them one step closer to March Madness.
The Cats are led by sophomore Nijel Pack, who posted 22 points against the Pokes the last time out. He’s averaging 17.5 points a game on 46% shooting from the field and 47% from 3-point range.
They have two other scores in double figures, Mark Smith (12.2 points) and Markquis Nowell (12.0 points).
