Ollie Gordon Now on Campus and With Program as Early Enrollee

STILLWATER – If you read Pokes Report, you probably knew this was a possibility, but it has now come to fruition.

Ollie Gordon is on campus, and he is ready to roll with the Cowboys as he begins his classes and work in the program.

Some may be confused how he is able to join in the middle of the semester, but with the way his high school, Euless Trinity, runs their academic calendar, Ollie was able to meet the required number of credits at this time of the year. If he wanted to, he could have waited until the summer to arrive on campus, but both Ollie and the Oklahoma State staff agreed it would be beneficial for him to be on campus now.

Gordon will now spend the next few days or week going through the normal testing before he gets started in his workouts, but he will be in the building moving forward.

This addition provides the program with depth in the running back room joining Dominic Richardson, Jaden Nixon, Zach Middleton, and fellow early enrollee CJ Brown.

For those that are unfamiliar with Gordon and his accomplishments, he is a 4-star prospect who racked up 4,878 yards in his career with 68 touchdowns. He is an All-World caliber player who has the ability to provide game breaking plays at any point in a game.

On signing day, Robert Allen wrote a profile on Gordon:

“Gordon is a freak of nature and has been one of the best players in the tradition rich Euless Trinity High School football program. He leaves as one of the top all-time performers in Trojans’ history. He was a running back up until this past season when former Westmoore (Oklahoma) head coach, now the head coach at Trinity moved him to a “wildcat” style quarterback. Gordon rushed for 2,376-yards this season and had 4,878-yards in his career. He had 35 rushing touchdowns this season and 68 overall. In his junior season he ran for 456-yards and six touchdowns in a playoff upset over Allen. He threw for 293-yards this season and 311-yards in his career with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Gordon also had 13 career receptions for 241-yards and four touchdowns. Gordon was a first-team All-State (TSWA) as a junior and he will be a certain repeat this season. He is the District 3-6A MVP for this season. Gordon committed to Oklahoma State early and stayed loyal but had some strong offers including Baylor, BYU, Missouri, Houston, Southern Cal, and others.”

What classes were still open for enrollment in February 18th? I thought classes closed on about January 20th.

It is my understanding that he doesn't actually start classes until March 7, which is the midway semester mark. So, based on what I know about my own schedule, he will probably take some eight week classes. And I also think he was taking some classes online before now.

that makes sense, I believe there is some minimum number of hours that athletes must enroll in to participate.

What is the former Westmoore coach name? Thanks

that is a misstatement, I believe. Ollie's former HC was never at Westmoore, but instead his HC is Texas has the exact same name as the coach at Westmoore. There are links in the other thread where this quote first came up.
