Former Poke and Current Dallas Cowboy Blake Jarwin Has Unconventional Hip Surgery
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State Cowboys standout, the face of the Cowboy back position at OSU, Blake Jarwin is now expected to miss the start of the 2022 NFL season for the Dallas Cowboys. Last month (February) Jarwin underwent surgery for a hip injury and is not expected to be ready for the 2022 season on time.
Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News first reported the surgery. Whatever this means, and nobody has reported or explained it in detail the surgery is considered uncommon for an active NFL player.
Jarwin played the first seven games of the 2021 season before going on injured reserve due to a hip injury. The tight end returned late in the season but played sparingly. Jarwin caught 11 passes for 96 yards and two TDs. He played in just one game in 2020 before suffering an ACL tear.
At Oklahoma State the walk-on and former quarterback at Tuttle High School, Jarwin earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2015 and was a second-team All-Big 12 player in 2016. He finished his college career with 41 receptions for 616-yards and five-touchdowns. He went undrafted but signed rookie free agent with Dallas and made the team and then was rewarded with a second NFL contract two years ago worth $22-million and included a $4-million signing bonus and $9.25-million of it guaranteed.
