Moussa Cisse Tabbed Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State center Moussa Cisse has been named the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year following the 2021-22 season. With the honor, Cisse becomes just the second player in program history to earn the distinction, joining two-time selection Marcus Dove, who earned the honor in 2007 and 2008.
The Big 12 also named Baylor’s Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua and West Virginia’s Gabe Osabuohien as fellow Co-Defensive Players of the Year. It marks the first time in the history of the conference three players have tied for the honor.
Cisse was also named the All-Big 12 Defensive team, making him the first Cowboy to earn the distinction since the 2015 season.
Cowboy guard Avery Anderson III was also named to the All-Big 12 Third Team.
Cisse had a great year in the paint for the Cowboys. In his first season in Stillwater, Cisse led the league in blocks with 54, averaging 1.86 block per game. He also finished the year averaging 7.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 56% from the field.
Cisse finished the season on a high note as he recorded five blocks and hauled in 10 rebounds in the 52-51 upset of No. 12 Texas Tech on Saturday in Stillwater.
As for Anderson III, this also marks his first All-Big 12 honors, as he finished the year averaging 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, while shooting 37% from the field.
