Oklahoma State Reaches Out to 2022 Five-Star Kentucky Decommit

STILLWATER – Less than 72 hours after Oklahoma State’s final game of the 2021-22 season, and Mike Boynton and Co. are already recruiting.

Skyy Clark, a 6-3, 200-pound point guard out of Montverde Academy, requested his release from his NLI to Kentucky on March 6, where he signed back in November as part of the 2022 class.

A few days later and Oklahoma State is one of several schools who have reached out to Clark.

Clark is currently ranked as the No. 27 overall ranked player in the 2022 class, the No. 5 point guard and the No. 7 ranked player out of Florida in the class, according to the 247Sports composite.

Mike Boynton and Co. offered Clark back in July 2020, just a few days after Kentucky. However, Clark named the Wildcats the leaders of his recruiting process in early August 2020 and committed just a few months later. So, the announcement of his decommitment came as a bit of shock to a lot of people.

“First and foremost I would like to thank Coach Cal, the entire coaching staff at UK as well as the BBN for all the love and support you all have shown me over the past two years. It honestly means the world to me,” Clark said on Twitter. “And that is what has made this decision such a tough one for me. But after a lot of thought and reflection I have decided to ask for my release from the University of Kentucky so I can reopen my recruitment.”

Oklahoma State currently has just one signee in the 2022 class, shooting guard Quion Williams, out of Jonesboro, AR. Williams transferred into the program before the 2021-22 season from Mansfield (TX) Legacy, where he averaged 24 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks a game.

Boynton and Co. will have at least two guard spots to fill this offseason with Bryce Williams graduating, Donovan Williams transferring, and possibly Isaac Likekele leaving, not to mention if any other players decide to transfer. It would be three, but Quion Williams takes up one of those spots.

They’ll also have to deal with the NCAA-mandated three scholarship reduction over the next three seasons.
