Oklahoma State Should Have Decent Impact on 2022 NFL Draft

STILLWATER – I have a confession to make. While I am not an NFL Draft crazy individual I do go bonkers over following the Oklahoma State players in the NFL Draft and the pre-draft happenings like the NFL Combine and Pro Day. The last two years as a subcriber to The Athletic, I get the NFL Draft Guide “The Beast” from Dane Brugler and I download it. Truth be known with 288 pages of information, measurements, and analysis on every potential draft prospect, when I copy it I’m probably responsible for killing one toner cartridge for the office copier at Triple Play Sports. Okay, I said it. I spend paper and ink to keep a copy of the massive document. 

Brugler brings all the best together as he has both combine and pro day testing numbers. Below I have taken the best of each for these numbers. You will notice we added Jelani Woods from Virginia into the mix. Woods spent four years in Stillwater afterall. 

Below are all of the Oklahoma State offensive prospects for the NFL Draft 2022.

I separated the offense from the defense, so below are all the measurements for the Cowboy defensive prospects for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Now, the critical stuff, the projections and comments on each of the Cowboys NFL Draft prospects.

Brugler has Woods ranked ahead of Oklahoma native and Iowa State tight end Charlie Kolar. Big-time arm length and great feet are a big part of the equation for Woods. He doesn’t mention the catch problems that Woods appeared to have in Stillwater. He calls him a prototypical Y-tight end that caters his game after former UCLA and current NFL tight end Mercedes Lewis.

Malcolm Rodriguez, LB: 4th-5th Round Pick

I love interviewing Rodriguez.

Brugler knocks Rodriguez size and short arms, which hurt him from separating on blocks. He does applaud his speed and athletic ability. More than anything he compliments his football acumen. He suggests that while he might not be for every team, he will have diagnostic skills and competitive toughness to make the team that chooses him happy.

Kolby Harvell-Peel, Saf: Priority Free Agent

Brugler gives him credit for good instincts, but can also be folled by play action and double moves. He says he plays controlled but ordinary speed hurts his impact versus the offense.

Brugler gets into all of the physical slights as far as size, but really compliments his impuslive ability to read blocks, make moves, and find green and open field. He believes he can compete for a complimentary role in an NFL offense.

Devin Harper, LB: Priority Free Agent

Brugler calls his senior season a “super” one that he took advantage of. He calls him out for coverage lapses on video, but says he has the speed and demeanor to be a nickel defender and special teams standout.

Josh Sills, OG: Priority Free Agent

Brugler says Sills plays with a touch of wildness and is a guy you want on your side in a bar fight. He is one of the few offensive line prospects that has starting experience at each position on the line. He needs better control to counter his natural aggression.

Tay Martin, WR: Priority Free Agent

Brugler calls Martin quicker more than fast and states that he must improve his catch ability and decrease the drops. He plays strong through contact like a classic X-receiver.
