Oklahoma State Reaches Out to SMU Transfer Guard Kendric Davis

April 14, 2022

STILLWATER – Mike Boynton and Co. are swinging for the fences in the transfer portal as they’ve reached out to former SMU guard, Kendric Davis.

Davis, a 6-0, 180-pound guard who originally transferred from TCU, immediately became one of the top transfer prospects in the country earlier this week. He also entered his name into the NBA Draft process.

According to a tweet from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Davis has heard from more than 20 schools in the past 48 hours.

He averaged 19.4 points on 43.9% shooting from the field, 3.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game this past season as a senior, which led to him being tabbed the AAC Player of the Year. He also shot 37% from 3-point range on 6.5 attempts per game.

In fact, Davis averaged double figure scoring in all three of his seasons at SMU: 14.2 points a game in 2019-20 and 19.0 points a game in 2020-21.

In his lone season at TCU, Davis posted 6.3 points a game in 37 appearances as a freshman.

Whichever school Davis winds up at, he’s going to be an immediate difference maker. With the loss of Bryce Williams, and most likely Isaac Likekele, Davis would take up a key role on the Pokes’ roster. He’d make a dangerous combo with Avery Anderson III, Bryce Thompson and Rondel Walker and with his 4.4 assists last season, it would also make a nice partnership with big man Moussa Cisse.

As it stands right now, there are currently 10 scholarship players following the departure of Bryce Williams to graduation and Keylan Boone, Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe and Donovan Williams to the transfer portal. That number includes the addition of incoming freshman Quion Williams, and would go up to 11 should Isaac Likekele decide to return for an additional season.
