Oklahoma State Reaches Out to Mississippi State Transfer Guard

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is still active in the transfer portal as Mike Boynton and Co. are looking to fill a few open scholarship spots before the fall. The latest target is Mississippi State transfer guard, Shakeel Moore.

Moore entered the transfer portal on Tuesday and has already heard from a number of schools, including Florida, LSU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech among others.

This past season as a sophomore, Moore was solid. He played in 34 games, starting in 29, and averaged 27.9 minutes per game. He also finished fifth on the team in scoring with 8.7 points per game, as well as 3.0 rebounds.

Moore fits the mold of player Boynton is currently looking for: 6-1, 185-pounds and shot more than 30% from 3-point range this past season, attempting more than 50 shots on the season.

Those numbers are up from his freshman season at NC State, where he averaged 6.8 points per game in 2020 with the Wolf Pack.

There’s no reason to start worrying about not adding players yet because remember, Boynton and Co. didn’t sign Bryce Thompson until mid-May and Moussa Cisse until mid-July of 2021.

As it stands right now, there are currently 10 scholarship players following the departure of Bryce Williams to graduation and Keylan Boone, Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe and Donovan Williams to the transfer portal. That number includes the addition of incoming freshman Quion Williams, and would go up to 11 should Isaac Likekele decide to return for an additional season.
