Braylin Presley Bows Out of State Meet in Order to Report Healthy to Cowboy Football

STILLWATER – We wrote last week about a potential Bedlam showdown in the Class 6A State Track Meet in Ardmore, Okla. this past weekend with the top qualifier in the 100-meters being Tulsa Union and future OU cornerback Jayden Rowe and the second qualifier being Bixby running back and receiver and future Oklahoma State slot receiver Braylin Presley. It would have been fun and believe nobody wanted to compete any more than Presley. However, the future Cowboy did not run in the 100-meters and he was replaced in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays for the Bixby Spartans too.

Robert Allen - Pokes Report
Presley is sensational in track.

“I was behind in the 100-meters at the regional and as I pushed it to win (his time was 10.62 seconds), I felt something in my hamstring,” Presley said. “I talked with my dad and Brennan and the three of us thought it would not be good to report (two weeks) to Stillwater with a hamstring injury.”

I think that was a smart decision, but I know a tough one as Presley loves competing and loves competing in track. Rowe did win the 100-meters comfortably in a time of 10.60 seconds. Bixby did not place in either of the relays.

KOTV-6
Presley scores in the 2021 Class 6A-II State Championship Game.

That closes out Braylin Presley’s prep career, but he did plenty for the Spartans especially in football. Besides all the championships, four that Braylin was a part of. He was part of Bixby’s record setting win streak of 49 straight and that set the Oklahoma 11-man football record passing the 48-wins of Wagoner when former Oklahoma State and current Detroit Lions linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez was quarterbacking. During that streak Presley, individually, scored 102 touchdowns and along with his brother Brennan, who is a junior at Oklahoma State, the brothers scored 155 touchdowns.

Presley is a two-time Offensive Player of the Year according to The Oklahoman. At Oklahoma State he will move to slot receiver but he could bounce around and do a lot of things. He’s small in size at 5-8, 170-pounds, but he is major explosive, quick, elusive, and electric. This past season he had 1,105-yards rushing and 56 receptions for 665-yards. He had 25 touchdowns overall and spent a lot of second halves watching as Bixby rolled to a fourth-straight Class 6A-II State Championship. His career rushing total is 4,978-yards and he had 102 touchdowns.

Now, he’ll report to Oklahoma State healthy and he will have a chance to play some this coming season.

Sad to learn but kid sees the bigger picture. One of the best I've seen in Oklahoma HS football. He has an extra gear that kicks in when he needs a little more speed.

Get him the ball in space and he'll do wonders for us like he did at Bixby HS.

I'm wondering if we can draw up some 4 WR sets with slot receivers on each side.
