STILLWATER – In the Sunday edition of The Oklahoman their beat writer Scott Wright had a story on transfer portal offensive lineman Jason Brooks Jr. from Vanderbilt. Brooks will be coming into the Oklahoma State football family this summer along with another transfer on the offensive line, who also happens to be another native Texas, Casey Collier from Southern Cal.

that sounds encouraging, but I think I became more confused about the potential OLine, than more clear.

Robert seemed to be suggesting that we'll see new starters at both tackles and at RG.

I was under the impression that we had only lost Sills at guard, and the tackle that got hurt during spring, but had possibly gained Miterko moving to guard since Wilson moved up at Center.

Wasn't Etienne projected to take the starting tackle spot after a year here and losing all the weight?

Can we see an updated OLine projection now that the intergalactic program improvement portal has closed?

anybody's OLine projections are welcome.... I know we have lot's of potential pieces, but I'm more confused now with the transfers and updated information like RA provided in this article.

thanks

I think he meant Tyrone playing left guard in place of Birmingham. (who got injured in Spring)

Etienne, Webber, Wilson, Woodard, Brooks/SpringField (If Webber is good enough for LG)

Etienne, Brooks/anyone else, Wilson, Woodard, Springfield (If Webber cant win the LG position)

I assume.

Maybe late into this and a correction has now occurred perhaps (?) in RA's story, as it refers to left guard, at least now. Cal, I was driving across the State the other day and called triple play and asked Robert to set the depth on both the down linemen on offense and defense. I would really like to have that recording or transcript and hope Robert chimes in and resets those. He went two deep at all 7 spots and added the DE's since there's going to likely be crossover. I believe if memory serves he guessed Brooks at RT and over Springfield and I thought that was interesting since he was guessing Brooks would supplant a guy who has a couple years of starts off and on and even had to start his first year (and was at least decent)! But anyway, Robert seemingly painted a pretty good and optomistic two deep, competitive line situation...again, as I recall. And I don't think he double counted Brooks at RT and RG. I came away thinking RA thought IF healthy, we should be pretty salty on the OL and the guys should be that way pretty early in the season. Of course, like me, I think RA likes OL Coach Dickey's development skills a lot. If I recall, you're less of a fan.

I'm a big Dickey fan

I thought our OLine would be decent before the transfers

We'll have to see what summer work outs hold for the new guys

Cali,

I'm sensing the same old, Off-Seaon Optimism by coaches. But when they're shopping at The Portal, it doesn't give me confidence that we're happy with what we have on the OLine.

Too many flip-flops of players trying to find the right fit. It seems the OLine is rarely set even during the season.

Not a good sign.

But Dickey is doing his magic act, so we'll have to depend on the wheels and wings of Spencer Sanders again.

GO POKES!
I know there are rules, but do we really want to follow them now?

We lost Sills and the center, Danny. Several players had existing injuries that needed surgery but will be back and Birmingham (last year's top of production board) was injured in practice and will not return in full until after the fall. We also lost some depth players to the portal (namely Hunter Anthony to Nebraska).

My understanding is that the center will be Michalski or Preston and LT will likey fall to Etienne if he is performing adequately in practice. RG will be Woodard like last year. I'm not sure about RT or LG, but my bet is that is where we have the greatest chance of seeing some new names.

I wasn't really counting the center, since Danny didn't start the last 5 games, Michalski did, and the bowl game.

I know that Danny exhausted his eligibility, but he wasn't the starter at year end (due to injury). I include Michalski as the "returning starter" because he did a good job, if he had not performed well, I would not have included him as returning starter.

I guess we'll see where they guys line up in a few weeks... we're going to miss Birmingham, IMO.
