STILLWATER – Oklahoma State will be heading back to Brooklyn this season to play in the 2022 Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational.

The Pokes will be facing off against Virginia Tech on December 11.

Tipoff time and television details will be announced at a later date.

The other matchups in the tournament will be Maryland vs. Tennessee, Iona vs. St. Bonaventure and UMass vs. Hofstra.

This will mark the fifth all-time meeting between these two programs, with the Hokies taking the first four matchups which were all played between 2010 and 2012. It will also mark the second time these two teams will have faced each other in New York as OSU fell to VT 59-57 in Madison Square Garden on Nov. 25, 2011.

The Cowboys are coming off a 15-15 season, including 8-10 in conference play. The season was headlined by a 61-54 road upset of then-No. 1 Baylor, but also featured wins over No. 14 Texas and No. 12 Texas Tech.

Mike Boynton and Co. return eight scholarship players from last year’s squad, including Co-Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Moussa Cisse, and third-team All-Big 12 guard Avery Anderson III.

Moussa averaged 7.2 points and 6.5 rebounds a game this past season, while blocking 54 shots on the year.

As for Anderson III, he led the Pokes in scoring with 12.1 points a game. He also averaged 3.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

Boynton and Co. also added three transfers to this year’s squad, John-Michael Wright from High Point, Caleb Asberry from Texas State and Russell Harrison from ULM, while adding four-star guard out of Jonesboro, AR, Quion Williams.
