Heard Calls Oklahoma State “School That Can Get Me to the Next Level”

STILLWATER – It was within minutes after he announced on Twitter that he had committed to Oklahoma State that we were speaking with Camron Heard. The 6-1, 160-pound explosive athlete was in Stillwater on Monday playing his position of the future and he left having told Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn that he wanted to play for him and have him develop him for the future.

Heard understands that he will move from dual-threat quarterback where he will star again this fall for Houston Furr High School. On Monday at “The Show” camp he had a 4.49 in the forty and was one of the best in the vertical jump with 36.5-inches. That speed and the leaping ability will serve him well as he tries to outpoint defensive backs in the future for the football.

Heard looks the part of a slot receiver.

“I know that is my future position,” Heard said. “I picked Oklahoma State because I think it is a great school to help me get better as a player and a student. I think they can help me get to the next level.”

Heard told Pokes Report that he wants to be an athletic trainer. That is his academic direction. His football compass will lead him likely to slot receiver where Coach Dunn has had lots of success transitioning or converting athletes like Heard to success.

“I thought it went pretty well (at The Show),” Heard answered when asked about it. “I could have done better and I’m working to be better at that part of the game. I think Coach Dunn can help me. We have a good relationship and I really believe he can make me better and really help me improve.”

Dunn is said to really like Heard’s skills.

The best part about Heard is not only is he explosive and athletically gifted, but he is a smart player. He is an individual that will put in extra work. He even told me one of the things he likes to do away from football is putting in extra work. That is kind of not getting away from football. He did say he likes to chill and hang out with friends.

He had lots of offers but Texas Tech and Tulsa would have been the top two along with Oklahoma State. This is a Kasey Dunn special, kind of like James Washington, Brennan Presley, Jaden Bray, and John Paul Richardson. Heard isn’t rated by some others. Any problem? I didn’t think so. If he is good enough for Kasey Dunn then he’s good enough.
