Recruiting Update: Jenkins Arrives on Official, Kysar & Okoye Stop By, Will Smith Offered

STILLWATER – The dead period is coming up soon and starting on June 27 through July 24 there will be no official or unofficial visits. No off-campus recruiting and no phone calls from coaches to prospects, so schools are in the midst of tying up loose recruiting ends and prospects are getting out for some final looks at schools they are serious about. Oklahoma State is very serious about Houston (Klein Forest) running back Parker Jenkins. We thought the talented 5-10, 185-pound running back visited earlier this month, but it was really lined up for June 23-25. We believe that Jenkins visit is the last official recruiting visit before Oklahoma State coaches and staff start taking vacations during the dead period.

Jenkins has 38 scholarship offers and has already visited Boston College, Northwestern, and LSU. He also has offers from the likes of Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Kansas State, Miami, Missouri, Oregon, Penn State, and Tennessee.

Pokes Report
Jenkins in action at Klein Forest.

He is an explosive back that is also a big threat as a receiver. Last season he finished with 47 carries for 427-yards and five touchdowns while catching 20 passes for 282-yards and a pair of touchdowns. In his two seasons at Klein Forest he has 623-yards and six rushing touchdowns with 32 receptions for 402-yards and four scores. Last track season he had a personal best of 10.8-seconds in the 100-meters.

Jenkins is a 2023 offensive threat, but up and down the halls of the West End Zone there was a 2024 defensive focus on Thursday (June 23) morning. Defensive ends Bergin Kysar of Edmond Santa Fe and Daniel Okoye of Tulsa NOAH were back. The potential future book ends on the Oklahoma State defense or any defense fortunate to sign them both.

Kysar has been to three different Oklahoma State camps, the prospect mini camp, the Down and Dirty Lineman Camp, and the specialists camp where he punted and held for his kicker at Santa Fe. Okoye was there at the Down and Dirty Lineman Camp. Both Okoye and Kysar were moved up in the camp and defeated all competition that they faced. Both players were offered scholarships after that camp.

Okoye measured 6-5.5 and 228-pounds. He ran a 4.8 in the forty, had a vertical jump of 32.6-inches, and ran a 4.56 in the 5-10-5 agility. Last season playing for NOAH, he had 57 unassisted tackles, 21 assisted tackles, for a total of 78. He had 21 tackles-for-loss, 10.5 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and two fumbles forced. He also scored a touchdown.

Kysar is 6-4.5 and 230-pounds. He had 15 tackles and three quarterback hurries last season. He was originally a quarterback and completed one pass last season. He also punted for the Wolves as a freshman with a 33.4-yards per punt average.

Kysar is a 300-pound bench presser, 405-pounds on the squat, runs a 4.76 in the forty (updated), and he finished sixth in the most recent Class 6A State Track Meet in the discus. He can also run the 5-10-5 agility in a 4.17 seconds and is 30.3-inches on the vertical jump.

Finally, Will Smith is a player we featured this spring after we were at the Choctaw team camp. The class of 2024 linebacker/defensive end is 6-4, 210-pounds. He plays basketball and is very athletic. Choctaw head coach Jake Corbin declared him next in the line of superior Yellow Jackets defenders like linebacker Jeff Roberson and defensive end DeSean Brown, who are both now at Oklahoma State.

Smith announced his offer on Twitter. He has several, but Oklahoma State is his first Power Five offer.

RA/Zach, why did we stop doing the Q&A chat room that we used to every Wednesday or every other Wednesday. It was fun. Any idea of continuing them?

We'll definitely be doing those soon! I'll talk to Robert and see when a good time to do one would be!
