STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowgirls basketball coach Jacie Hoyt will always remember Tuesday as her first major high school recruiting commitment came on June 28, 2022 when Sapulpa and Lady Jets Elite basketball program standout Stailee Heard pledged to become a Cowgirl. Heard was a finalist last season for many honors and made many honor teams including being a finalist for Tulsa All-World Player of the Year.

Heard is 5-11 and last season she averaged 19.4 points for Sapulpa. In the Class 5A State Tournament she jumped that average to 26.5 points and also averaged 12.1 rebounds a contest. Heard was part of the Sapulpa team that won the Class 5A State Championship in 2021.

She is a multi-sport standout as last month she finished second in the 800-meter run in the State Track Meet and she is also a standout in volleyball. Her family is accomplished as her father, Tony,  was a point guard at Tulsa including starting on the Golden Hurricane NCAA Elite Eight team and her mother, Lila, scored 1,301-points playing at Tulsa. Her younger sister, Tyla, is also a major basketball recruit and current prep standout.

Heard announced her commitment on Twitter (@StaileeH):

"A place that feels like home, (the) coaching staff that will push me to grow as a person (and) not just a player. I found it and felt it," Heard posted of Oklahoma State.

She is a part of the 2023 recruiting class that can first sign a Letter of Intent on the first Wednesday in November.
