Pokes in the NFL: Preseason Week 1 Update

It seems like a lifetime since football season ended, but with a blink of an eye it’s back and in full force with the first official week of NFL preseason.

Sure, preseason football means virtually nothing in terms of success on the field, however, it’s a huge deal for guys who are either fighting for a roster spot or increased playing time.

We’re going to take a look at a handful of former Oklahoma State football players in this piece with the first two games taking place on Thursday night. I know the Hall of Fame game has already happened and you can take a look at how Israel Antwine performed in his NFL debut here.

Tylan Wallace: Baltimore Ravens

Tylan saw limited action in the Ravens’ 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans as he finished with just one catch for three yards before leaving the game with a knee injury.

Thankfully the injury was nothing too serious as Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced after the game it was just a minor sprain. It’s still unknown how much time Wallace will miss, but hopefully he’ll be back in full swing by the time the regular season begins on September 11 in New York against the Jets.

The Ravens still have two more preseason games this morning, a road game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, August 21 and they finish with a home game against the Washington Commanders on Saturday, Aug. 27.

You’ll have a chance to see former OSU receiver Marcell Ateman on Aug. 21 as he was signed by the Cardinals last week.

Justice Hill: Baltimore Ravens

Justice would’ve been the Ravens’ leading rusher Thursday night had it not been for multiple penalties on other Ravens players nullifying the gains. However, those negated yards don’t show up in the stat sheet and Hill finished with three carries for 11 yards.

Justice missed nearly the entire 2021 season with a torn Achilles tendon, so you know he’s anxious to get back out there and prove to the Ravens and the league what he’s got.

Rodarius Williams: New York Giants

After tearing an ACL in October 2021, former OSU standout corner Rodarius Williams is working his way back into the lineup. He’s yet to suit up and practice this early into training camp, but he’s still working out and doing drills and will hopefully make an appearance soon.

Chris Lacy: Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas is becoming Stillwater West as former Oklahoma State receiver Chris Lacy has been picked up and signed by the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming the third OSU receiver on the roster as he joins Dillon Stoner and Tyron Johnson.

Lacy, who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots in 2018, spent the past two seasons with the Detroit Lions where he appeared in eight games and caught three passes for 60 yards.
