STILLWATER – There’s an ESPN article from Chris Low that’s been gaining quite a bit of traction on social media the past 24 hours.

In that article, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy had some pretty strong words to say about OU and Texas leaving the Big 12.

"Let's just cut to the chase. They made a choice to financially secure their athletic departments for the next 12 to 15 years," Gundy told ESPN. "People can talk about all the reasons, but that's why they did it, all for the money, and took a lot of history out of this league and a lot of history out of college football with them.”

While they’re some strong words, it’s basically the same message Gundy gave at Big 12 Media Days back in July.

“We have a strong brand we have a successful winning tradition and a large number of people across the country that want to watch Oklahoma State football. And as we've all talked about, and we all understand, that's the direction that college football is going. That's where the money is. And the moves that are being made are only made for the money, period.”

“Well, the future of (Bedlam) is that there is a year or two left,” Gundy said. “I mean, that's the future, and it’s based on somebody else's decision.”

Are the quotes verbatim? No, but the only difference between Big 12 Media Days and the ESPN article is Gundy didn’t call OU and Texas out in front of the new Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark. Gundy toed the company line in front of the bosses, and I think that was the smart thing for him to do.

However, I will say it might mean more now because Gundy didn’t back down from his thoughts or the statements he made about Bedlam, OU and Texas at Big 12 Media Days. In fact, he doubled down and I think that’s going to make things really interesting once Big 12 play starts.
