Big 12 Conference Commissioner Brett Yormark has appointed Scott Draper as Vice President – Football, after having served in a similar position at the American Athletic Conference since 2014.

“I am delighted that Scott will be joining the Big 12 Conference staff and welcome him to our leadership team,” commented Yormark.  “He will be a valuable asset in serving our member institutions and managing such a critical area.  His knowledge and expertise allows for a quick transition into this role.”

Draper will oversee daily sport management operations for Big 12 football to include scheduling, bowl relationships, oversight of the Conference’s championship game and officiating program.

“I am excited, honored, and grateful for the opportunity to join the Big 12 Conference and Commissioner Yormark's staff to serve the member institutions to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes,” said Draper. “I would also like to thank the athletic directors and head coaches of the American Athletic Conference, and particularly Commissioner Mike Aresco and his staff, for their support through the past eight years.”

Prior to his time at the AAC, Draper was the assistant athletic director for football operations at the University of Michigan, where he was a key staff member of teams that won four Big Ten football championships, played in four Rose Bowls, 12 bowl games and won the 1997 National Championship. In his role, he supervised football sport administration, strength and conditioning, equipment operations, and athletic training operations. He also served as sport administrator and liaison to admissions, academic services, compliance and eligibility, and dining and housing.

Earlier in his career, Draper was a football offensive graduate assistant (1995-97) and assistant video coordinator (1992-95) at the University of Michigan. He holds a bachelor's degree in general studies from Eastern Michigan University (1994) and a master’s degree in business administration from Madonna University (2012).

The search for a successor to Edward Stewart, who was recently named Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director at USC, was led by TurnkeyTRZ.
