Presley Talks Receivers Brotherly Attitude Toward Out doing Each Other

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has the weekend off. This Saturday they kick back and watch after finishing up an open week of practice on Thursday. This week, like all season and fall practice, there were plenty of pass catchers running around making plays. All maybe quiet this Saturday in Boone Pickens Stadium, but that hasn’t been the case so far and won’t be the rest of the 2022 season.

There is no shortage of targets on the Cowboys for quarterback Spencer Sanders and after the win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. No shortage for Gunnar Gundy either as the next wave of talented receivers for offensive coordinator and receivers coach Kasey Dunn made their introductions. Eight different players have caught touchdown receptions so far this season. Remember, Jaden Bray has yet to play this season and he was hyped as one of the top receivers on the team heading into the 2022 season.

This was a good catch by Presley in the UAPB game.

For the receivers it is an epidemic, a play-making epidemic where they inspire each other to new heights and more highlights.

“If someone goes out and makes a play, then you want to go out and do something,” slot receiver Brennan Presley explained. “Like J.P. (Richardson) scored his touchdown (vs. UAPB) and made those two guys miss. Well, all of us (receivers) on the sidelines were like, “I want to go do that same thing.’ It’s like the brother thing and it is building. We want to build off each other, not bring each other down. We do a great job of that because we all know each other is talented, so I think that love for each other we have on the field just escalates.”

Presley has 12 receptions for 166-yards and a touchdown. He also has two 32-yard returns, one on a punt return and the other on a kickoff. In the Arkansas-Pine Bluff game he and the other starting receivers got an early end to their night, but that was when the Oklahoma State fans got official introductions to receivers like freshmen Stephon Johnson Jr. and Talyn Shettron. The older guys knew it was coming as the watched on the sidelines.

Shettron celebrates his TD catch.

“It is super cool because those guys don’t necessarily get as much opportunity as the starters do,” Presley answered. “When they get in, we all know what they can do because we see it every day at practice. For them to show it on a big stage is no surprise for us. We’re just happy other people are starting to get to see it. It, really, is so proud of them.”

How about this? I think there’s a good chance that Jaden Bray will be back for Baylor, if not, then for Texas Tech. The more the merrier.
