Over/Under: Five Thoughts on Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech

STILLWATER – We’ve started a new game-week series here at Pokes Report called Over/Under. It’ll be five topics with an over/under associated to them. You’ll then drop your predictions in the comments below on how you think they’ll turn out.

Oklahoma State is looking to go 5-0 on the season as the Pokes play host to Texas Tech on Saturday. The last time out between these two teams, the Cowboys blanked the Red Raiders in Lubbock, 23-0.

Be sure and drop you Over/Under predictions below in the comment section.

The first Over/Under will be Spencer Sanders: Over/ Under 60 rushing yards

In the 36-25 win over Baylor this past weekend, Spencer rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries. It was the first time he cleared 60 yards on the season, having rushed for 57 yards against Central Michigan and 54 yards against Arizona State. On the season, Texas Tech is allowing 148.4 rushing yards per game, while giving up 171 yards on 12 carries this past week to Kansas State quarterback, Adrian Martinez.

Scoring: Over/Under 30 points

The Cowboys have cleared 30 points in every game this season, while averaging 47.8 points per game. Scoring 58 against CMU and 63 against UAPB inflates the season average, but they scored 34 against ASU and 36 against Baylor.

Sacks: Over/Under two

Texas Tech quarterback Donovan Smith has been sacked 18 times this season for a loss of 108 yards, while the Cowboy defense has combined for 12 sacks, with two coming last week against Baylor. The only game Smith wasn’t sacked was against Murray State, with six coming last week against Kansas State. Can the Cowboys combine for at least two sacks this Saturday against a Tech O-line that’s susceptible to giving up sacks?

Interceptions: Over/Under one

The Cowboys hauled in two interceptions in crucial moments against Baylor last week, one from Thomas Harper and one from Jason Taylor II to seal the game for the Pokes. Donovan Smith has thrown for 11 TDs on the season, but he’s also thrown seven interceptions. Can the Pokes wreak a little havoc on defense and intercept at least one pass?

Special teams: Over/Under one non-FG score

The special teams this season has been very good for the Pokes. Tom Hutton is playing his best football, which we saw lead to the safety against Baylor. We also saw a kick return for a TD against the Bears by Jaden Nixon. With the special teams success the Cowboys have had against Tech in recent years, can the Cowboys record a non-FG score on special teams against Tech?
