STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is set to host one of the top prospects in the 2024 class this weekend.

According to a report from Marshall Scott, five-star guard David Castillo will be in Stillwater this weekend for an official visit during Homecoming. Certainly, a great weekend to do with as there will be close to 100,000 people in town for the festivities, as well as a top-25 showdown against Texas on the gridiron.

Castillo is a 6-1, 170-pound combo guard out of Bartlesville (OK) HS. According to the collection of recruiting services, Castillo is a consensus top-25 player in the 2024 class and is ranked as high as No. 8 in the nation in the ESPN Top 60.

Castillo played a big role in helping the 2022 USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team win gold this summer at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup, beating Spain 79-67 in the finals. Castillo averaged 10.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game during the event.

He also helped USA Basketball win gold last summer during the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Xalpala, Mexico, with a 90-75 win over Argentina to finish the tournament 6-0. Castillo finished with 14 points and three assists in the championship game.

Mike Boynton and Co. have been recruiting Castillo since the beginning of his recruiting process, long before he blew up nationally. The Cowboys don’t currently hold any commitments in the 2024 class.

A recruit like this could be a key building block to making Cowboys basketball great again.

So glad to hear this. My son played with David on GTH during their middle school years.
