Mike Gundy Named to 2022 Dodd Trophy Midseason Watch List
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy is one of just 20 college football coaches named to the 2022 Dodd Trophy Midseason Watch List, which was announced Thursday by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl Inc.
The watch list includes coaches from the Power Five conferences, as well as the AAC. It also includes five former winners.
Gundy is one of just three Big 12 coaches, joined by K-State’s Chris Klieman and Texas’ Steve Sarkisian.
“The Dodd Trophy, college football’s most coveted national coaching award, celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity – the three pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd’s coaching philosophy. Bobby Dodd is one of only four honorees to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as both a coach and a player.”
The Cowboys have started the 2022 season 5-1 overall, 2-1 in Big 12 play, and are currently ranked No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25. They’ve been ranked as high as No. 7 following a 36-25 win over then-ranked No. 14 Baylor.
They’re coming off a 43-40 2OT loss to No. 15 TCU this past weekend in Fort Worth, but have a chance to get back in the win column this weekend as they play host to No. 20 Texas for a 2:30 p.m. CT Homecoming kick on ABC.
