Calvalcade of Cowboy Receiver Offers Continues with Watson and Gifford
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is cranking up the recruiting on several positions this week as the offensive recruiting staff and offensive coordinator and receivers coach Kasey Dunn have added to their “wish list” of players. Earlier in the week the Cowboys offered Tennessee prep standout Chance Fitzgerald and Thursday (Oct. 20) they offered A&M Consolidated wide receiver Wesley Watson.
The 6-2, 188-pound Watson is currently committed to Colorado, but that is a school with a coaching vacancy already in the season. Watson has over 30 offers including now Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Houston, Utah and more. He is a 4.4 speed guy that has extensive varsity experience for a standout school in Consolidated, which is located in College Station, Texas. This season Watson has 26 catches for 537-yards and eight touchdowns.
He is an excellent route runner and shows good ball schools in getting up and often outbattling defensive backs for the football. His athletic ability is undeniable in watching him on video. his team is 6-1 and unbeaten in district play with another district game hosting East View on Friday night.
The Cowboys and Dunn also extended an offer to Micah Gifford, a 2023 receiver out of Weiss in Pflugerville, TX.
Gifford checks in at 6-2, 185 pounds and is currently a Baylor commit. He’s played in seven games so far this season for Weiss and currently has 32 receptions for 620 yards and seven touchdowns. His yards are the most on the team and he’s tied for first in touchdowns.
He’s currently ranked as the No. 539 overall prospect in the 2023 class, the No. 71 receiver and the No. 83 overall prospect out of Texas.
As mentioned, Oklahoma State offered Fitzgerald earlier this week. Hamilton, Ariz, wide receiver Trey Spivey is visiting officially this weekend for the Texas game. Already, the Cowboys have Houston Furr athlete Cam Heard committed and expected to play wide receiver. The Cowboys have Braydon Johnson as the only receiver that is a senior on the current roster, but they are expected to add one or two more receivers in this 2023 recruiting cycle.
