A Different Kind of Game Wrap-Up Today

Sunday’s here at Pokes Report are typically a day where we put out two follow up articles: an offensive review and a defensive review. However, the 48-0 blowout from Kansas State forced us to do something a bit different.

The first article is going to be a first half review of the explosive plays Kansas State had that decimated the Cowboys.

The second article is going to be on quarterback Spencer Sanders. We don’t know Spencer’s status as of right now, other than he was taken into the Kansas State training room in the fourth quarter to be evaluated. By the time the team got to the locker room after the game, Spencer had already showered and was in street clothes and didn’t talk to any media. However, as of right now at least, it appears there’s a chance OSU might not have him for the upcoming game against Kansas.

The video above features audio from Robert Allen’s postgame interview with Gunnar Gundy on his short performance against the Wildcats.

The sooner we flush any discussion of this game the better. The players have already moved on, if the few interviews Robert did with them after the game are any indication of how the entire team feels.

I agree with Phil.... nothing really to say.

Their chunk plays were superb calls that caught our cover guys off guard or screened out... the defense simply overwhelmed our makeshift OLine with our best lineman out. The right side was horrible with two RTs trying to man that side.

Jackson showed a bit of promise, but they didn't open with him....

not much else left to say. The freshmen dropped the ball. Harper looked like he hadn't played in weeks, and was constantly out of position.

enough said.

I think we must assume that SS will be out for KU. Thus, GG will be the trigger man for our "pistols firing." I suppose the big question for us fans is whether or not he is up to the task. Based on his high school career and his athletic pedigree, I suspect that he will be fine. If we had a solid run game, I would certainly feel better about things.

If Sanders does not start, I think we should expect to see a loaded box and a barrage of blitzes.

Coaches better make sure we have a plethora of plays designed to beat the blitz (plenty of quick outlets)

I hope they play Rangel he looked better at extreme camp. He can make all the throws, there were some Gundy could not make, and there was not a whole lot of difference in their running ability. I assume they are trying to protect his redshirt, but that should not be a big deal with just 4 games plus a bowl left.
