STILLWATER – Oklahoma State set a school record with an overall score of 88 on the NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for the 2015 freshman cohort, it was announced today.

Of a possible 13 sports that are measured, OSU had eight with scores of 90 or better for its best showing in the 18-year history of the GSR metric.

Cowboy Baseball and Cowgirl Golf logged perfect scores of 100. It marked the first time that baseball had a perfect score and the fourth consecutive year with 100 for a Cowgirl Golf program that has accomplished that feat in 11 of the last 15 years. OSU is the only Big 12 baseball team with a perfect GSR score this year.

Football and baseball both set program records and wrestling, softball and women's golf matched their all-time highs.

Other OSU programs with GSR scores in the 90s were softball (96), soccer (95), women's cross country/track and field (94), women's basketball (93) and men's and women's tennis, both of which came in at 90. The Cowboy tennis team score led all Big 12 men's tennis teams this year.

Not counting the Cowgirl Golf program that held solid at 100, eight OSU programs showed improvement in their GSR score from the previous year, with the most significant improvement coming from the Cowboy Football program that jumped from 74 to a program-record 82. Wrestling improved from 77 to 83, baseball from 95 to 100 and women's cross country/track and field from 89 to 94. Other improvements came from soccer, which was up three points, women's basketball and women's tennis, both of which were up two points and men's tennis, which improved by a point. Softball and men's and women's golf all held steady from the previous year.

The data used in compiling the GSR is based on a six-year cycle, which means the NCAA numbers released today pertain to student-athletes who entered as freshmen for the 2015-16 academic year. The data compiled this year takes the first-year class from 2015, meaning a 2015 freshman who graduated by 2021 would be added to the percentage of those who graduated.

The graduation rate is calculated by taking the number of athletes who enrolled in that year and comparing it to the number who graduated within six years. It does take transfers in and out of the school into account.
