STILLWATER – Oklahoma State used an impressive second half to pull away from Prairie View A&M for a 78-53 win.
With the win, the Cowboys move to 5-2 on the season.
The Cowboys had four players in double figures as Avery Anderson III led the way with 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He also had four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Both Bryce Thompson and Moussa Cisse finished with 13 points, with Cisse recording his fourth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds. Both he and Thompson shot well from the floor with Cisse going 6-of-9 and Thompson 6-of-12.
True freshman Quion Williams is starting to find his groove as he scored a career-high 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the floor, 1-of-1 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 free throw line.
It was a tale of two halves as the Cowboys continue to work towards establishing roster roles. The first half was close from the tip for the Pokes as Prairie View A&M matched nearly shot-for-shot with the Pokes, including taking the lead several times, including 26-25 with 1:17 remaining in the half.
That, however, would be the last lead of the day for the Panthers as Anderson III hit two free throws to give the Pokes the lead back going into the half. The Cowboys then held the Panthers scoreless for the first five and a half minutes of the second half, while extending their lead up to 13, 39-26 on a hot start out of the gates. Thompson hit a layup, Anderson III his lone three of the game, Williams a layup, two free throws from Anderson III and one from Cisse, followed by a layup from Anderson III.
The Cowboys play again on Thursday, December 1, as they travel up to Storrs, CT, for the Big 12/Big East Battle game against No. 20 UConn.
