Cowboys Offer NEO A&M Defensive Tackle Oates
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State in the continued ramp up and expansion of the recruiting heading into the December singing date on Dec. 21 issued an offer to NEO A&M Junior College defensive tackle Iman Oates. Oates is a product of Tulsa Edison and while there did some strength training with former Cowboys defensive tackle Christian Littlehead.
The 6-3, 300-pound Oates had a strong season at NEO A&M this fall with 40 total tackles, 23 of those unassisted, 9.0 tackles-for-loss, and 3.0 sacks. Oates posted the offer on his Twitter on Monday evening.
“Man, I was ecstatic,” Oates said to get the offer. Oklahoma State is awesome. I’m also hearing from SMU, Coastal Carolina, and TCU, but I’m going to be visiting Stillwater this weekend.”
Oates told me that he actually still trains in the off season with Littlehead. “That’s my dog,” Oates said of Littlehead.
At NEO A&M Oates has been coached by former OKlahoma State Cowboy Zach Crissup.
He will graduate in December and be available to enroll in the spring.
“”I’m staying on top of everything (academically) to make sure that happens,” Oates pledged.
Oates is one of two NEO A&M players offered by Oklahoma State as they also offered the Norsemen cornerback Kendel Dolby.
