Oklahoma State QB Commit Zane Flores Tabbed MaxPreps Nebraska HS FB Player of the Year
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State 2023 quarterback commit Zane Flores has added another accolade to his name ahead of signing day as he was named the MaxPreps Nebraska High School Football Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Flores, who committed to the Cowboys back on April 17, was electric during his senior season as he helped Gretna to a 12-1 overall record, falling just short of winning the Class A state championship. In the 43-41 loss to Omaha Westside, Flores threw for 414 yards and three touchdowns on 24-of-37 passing, while posting 52 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
The 6-3, 190-pound quarterback finished the season with 3,117 yards and 31 touchdowns to just seven interceptions on 235-of-359 passing, as well as 79 carries for 262 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Prior to the start of his senior season, Flores was a standout and graduate of Elite 11 over the summer, finishing just outside the top 11 at the event, which features the best high school quarterbacks in the country.
Flores had an incredible career at Gretna as he’s now the all-time leader in passing yards and completions in Nebraska high school history as he finished his career with 9,163 yards and 724 completions.
He’s scheduled to sign during early signing period, begins on Wednesday, Dec. 21, and will be on campus in Stillwater for the start of the 2023 spring semester and winter offseason workouts.
