STILLWATER – Clearing house seems to be the order of the week, but to be honest neither of these players has been active with the Oklahoma State football squad since around midseason. Freshman running back CJ Brown, an All-State player at Beggs, and junior college transfer and Southwest Junior College Football Conference Player of the Year and NJCAA All-American for national champion New Mexico Military Institute Tyrone Webber left the squad at midseason for varying reasons.

Webber was a four-star prospect originally out of Canada that helped NMMI to the NJCAA Championship last December. Webber came in and battled for playing time in the spring and started the season getting some playing time, but did not stay on the two-deep and around mid-season was no longer at practice. Webber played in the first three games of the season, He has not entered the transfer portal and has not announced any future football plans.

Brown rushed for 2,189-yards and 29 touchdowns in helping Beggs to the Class 4A State semifinals. He chose Oklahoma State over offers from Baylor, Arkansas, Kansas State, TCU, Nebraska, and others.

The 5-10, 175-pound Brown was there in the spring and got some reps but did not have a carry in the season.

Brown also has not announced any immediate plans for his football future.

Scott Wright of The Oklahoman first reported that Webber and Brown were no longer with the Oklahoma State program.

We only recruit guys that fit the cowboy culture but we even miss on that. Cleaning house is the theme of the week. 15 players left last off-season and somewhere around that this time around. We don't go after high caliber guys because they don't fit the culture but apparently neither do a bunch of the ones we do land. I am so seriously confused about how we are told about all these kids and almost none of it is ever true lol we have got to have the most confusing recruiting of any school out there

That's 3 of our best recruits from last class. 3 of the ones we were most excited for. Same thing as our 2020 class. Like no one is left from the class or plays. I didn't want to jump on the wagon but yeah we got issues internally I don't know how it's been held under wraps

And why are we just now finding out that 2 left mid season?

I heard RA, about a month and a half ago on TPS radio, say something about Webber not being on the team any longer. I did not read it on PR but I do not read every article. Today is the first I have picked up on Brown being gone. Disappointing for sure. Next Cowboy up!!! GO POKES!!!

Yeah next dude up for sure. I'm just confused how we miss so bad sometimes after all the apparent evaluation we do. Cj brown was committed for a long time before signing day but he gave up half way through the season? Webber was the anchor on a juco national title team that ran the ball great. Was a real threat to play year 1. He also quits halfway? Like we totally whiffed on the character of Presley and these 2 or something drove that to happen. It's a spoiled generation so I'm sure Gundy has his hands full but yeah seems off to me

Thiings I've heard / read, so certainly not verified.....

Brown & Webber had grade problems

Presley wasn't happy that he wasn't being given a shot at RB. Personally, if this is true and given his very diminutive size....kindly put, if a guy isn't north of 180 with some extreme muscle development then he's nuts for wanting to play Div 1 RB considering the brutal beating a RB takes...but that's just my opinion
