Oklahoma State Lands Commitment From NEO Defensive Tackle Iman Oates
STILLWATER – The commitment party continues for Oklahoma State as they just landed NEO A&M defensive tackle, Iman Oates. His commitment comes less than a month after the Cowboy coaching staff extended the offer.
Oates graduates this month and will be in Stillwater for the start of the spring semester.
Oates checks in at 6-3, 300 pounds and is coming off an impressive 2022 season. He racked up 40 total tackles this fall, 23 of which were solo stops, 9.0 tackles for loss and three sacks.
This is a good pick up for the Cowboys as there’s a need to bring in experience defensive linemen for next season as they are set to lose as many as seven guys off the line from this past season.
There are multiple ties back to Oklahoma State with Oates, so this commitment makes a lot of sense. Originally out of Tulsa Edison, Oates has done some strength training with former OSU defensive tackle, Christian Littlehead. The head coach at NEO is also a former Cowboy football player, Zach Crissup, who played safety for the Pokes under Tim Beckman and Joe DeForest.
Overall, Oates marks the 23rd overall commitment for the Cowboys in the 2023 class. He’s also the second JUCO pick up for the Pokes as he joins Jones College corner, Lardarius Webb.
