Pokes' Portal Update - Cowboys Looking for QB, WR, TE, OL, DL, High School RB

STILLWATER – It’s the legal holiday for New Year’s Day and many folks, especially in education and college football. I can guarantee they are working at TCU and Georgia today. You know the teams playing in bowl games, but what about others? The Oklahoma State Cowboys recruiting staff is in the office and they are continuing to work on recruiting and also evaluating any players entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Trump Nebraska is an interesting statement. With a big name new coach to sell "change of fortunes" and the big NIL pockets of that alumni base.

It's now being reported that Auburn is targeting Armstrong as well. Are we sure there's no chance at a Spencer Sanders reunion? Auburn and Ole Miss were the programs most interested, but if Armstrong goes to Auburn, then wouldn't Spencer coming back make the most sense? I can't imagine Ole Miss starting Spencer over Dart, but that's just me. I don't know what happened behind closed door with Spencer, but I really do believe we could win the Big 12 with him or Armstrong at QB next season. I'm not sure how to feel about Aune.

I read Armstrong's '22 season interception vs. touchdown ratio was terrible.......like 7 td's vs 12 interceptions
(SS was 17/9 in comparison to 7/12) and the fans were more upset with Armstrong's fumbling 9 times apparently. Unless that's wrong....I can't imagine him being a better option than Rangle, Flores or Gundy. I know our HC has little patience for turnover prone players. 21 turnovers in one season by a seasoned player is a bunch! Maybe the hope is his coaching went south in '22. His '21 year was good and then a coaching turnover occurred.

Aune no longer a option. Of all the guys with 1 year eligibility i'm probably looking at Alan Bowman if Armstrong goes to NC ST. Anyone have another option? I think they'll bring one in regardless, even if Zane or Rangel beats them out. Maybe Bachmeier?

I am not a big fan of brining anyone of these guys like Armstrong in unless it is a kid like Bachmier who was from Boise State and we faced in 2021! I still think this team may be better letting one of the young guys come in and take over! Looking back, I wish Ilingworth had been a little more patient, but he wanted to play and I can understand that!

I agree with you on Sanders. I think it's odd that he has not landed yet and odd that we have not identified a portal QB to bring in. Maybe the NIL money is not so great elsewhere and/or Sanders is not as desirable as he thought. I would much rather see him come back than pick up Armstrong.

Yeah, that's what we need. A 3-yr QB in 2022 that threw 2TDs, 3ints, 5.2 yds/att and a QBR of 30. SMH.
